Supply Chain Visibility Without Control?

Can you imagine driving down the interstate and you suddenly need to change lanes, but you don’t have a steering wheel? You have visibility. You can see the stalled vehicle in front of you clearly through your windshield, but you can’t do anything about it. Oh, and your brakes do not work either.

If your supply chain visibility project does not let you Know What’s In The Box or provide you the ability to control and divert that in transit inventory, you have no steering wheel or brakes. You can see where the container is, but you don’t know what’s inside or have any way to alter its path.

By augmenting your supply chain visibility project with an in transit inventory control system you gain unprecedented command over all inventory as it moves through your supply chain, including:

   • Create, label, and apply at origin a serial tracking number to each box (one ship unit – eaches, carton, pallet, etc.)
   • track and confirm all movements and stakeholders each step of the way
   • capture time and money savings bypassing entire segments & costs of your supply chain
   • comply with regulatory bodies and provide customer value with ‘chain of custody’ detail

Knowing, with certainty, the contents of the box and each subsequent container/truck/rail in which it moves creates a validated bread crumb trail. Having functional control of inventory in transit to receive, allocate, synchronize, label, pick, divert/load and ship provides the agility modern supply chains demand.
